Death of Franck Labeyrie

Château du Coureau

Franck Labeyrie, winemaker at Château du Coureau in the heart of the Graves vineyards and Château de Lugey, died in August at the age of 46, leaving his mark on the wine world with his audacity and passion. Known for his Vin des Cabanes, red and white, emerged in the Bassin d'Arcachon, in 2018 he decided to try the experience under the snow, at the top of the Pyrenees at an altitude of 2400 meters. With his wines, the former competition rider had succeeded in his bet: to show professionals that the ageing of wines in a natural environment is not only about marketing, it is about a real bias that highlights cuvées from quality. SommelierS International offers its condolences to all his loved ones.
