A SUCCESS TO SAVOUR





From 18th till 21st March of this year, the 2012 edition of the trade show EGAST brought together the flagship of the national and international gastronomy during 4 days in the Parc Expo of Strasbourg, and welcomed nearly 28.000 professional visitors, a figure equivalent to the 2010 edition but with a re-qualified visitorship.
Over 300 exhibitors, manufacturers and distributors, more than 450 Chefs, artisans, and participants have followed one ano­ther on the animation catwalks, presenting their know-how and livening up debates and conferences. The organization of trophies of excellence has allowed the various sectors of gastro­nomy business of to highlight many talented candidates.
Frédéric Anton, Enrico Bernardo, Dominique Loiseau, Michel Roth, Heiner Finkbeiner, Nadia Santini, The Alsatian Chefs of Paris, the French Pastry School of Chicago with Peter Zimmermann, Bakery World Champion in 1996, the French Food Culture Centre of Tokyo, and Japanese Chefs were featured, as well as talented local Chefs who contributed to make the 2012 edition of EGAST an exceptional event.


Many highlights and great moments of emotion

-the inauguration under a rain of stars by Eric Frechon, the 3 star Michelin Chef of the Bristol in Paris,
-the second edition of the Trophy Paul Haeberlin, the only competition in the world to gather the cooking, the sommellerie, and the service, has kept out of breath during a whole day 4 teams from major international restaurants.

- The training restaurant of the Hotel High school Alexandre Dumas of Illkirch, in partnership with the ARIA (Regional Association of the Food industries), held by his students with more than 1,150 meals served and whose the funds will be donated to a charity,

- a morning dedicated to college students and to the transmission of know-how in the catering trade in partner-

ship with the Regional Council, the Academy of Alsace, the Alsatian Chamber of Trades, the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and professional organizations of the world of gastronomy to give to the professionals of tomorrow a unique opportunity to discover a passion,

- a high-level debate with the New Yorker gastronomic critic
Michael Steinberger around the book “French cuisine, a masterpiece in danger” with the notable presence of many participants including Gilles Pudlowski and Emile Jung.
Solidarity was also practiced since the Hotel High School Alexandre Dumas's students and the apprentices of the CEFPPA Adrien Zeller have widely contributed to the success of EGAST through a strong involvement in the organization of these 4 days.

Strasbourg Evénements has improved the visibility of the show by creating a division in sectors of activity allowing visitors to move toward their heart of target. For the first time, a hotel business pole has entered the Hall K, high-

lighting the latest advances in development, renovation and upgrading processes.



1st COOK SHOW exhibition

A colourful first for the Salon COOK SHOW, open to the public from Saturday 17th till Monday, March 19th, which welcomed over 14,000 visitors. Concomitant to EGAST, COOK SHOW invited for its opening the famous journalist and presenter Julie Andrieu, Marc Haeberlin of the Auberge de l'Ill in Illhaeusern ***, Jean-George Klein of Arnsbourg in Baerenthal ***, and Christine Ferber of the Maison Ferber in Niedermorschwihr, Simone Morgenthaler and Hubert Maetz, as well as Elizabeth Biscarrat, the winner of Masterchef 2011.
A rich show through the diversity of the presented products and the interactivity of its cooking courses for all ages led by Cuisine Aptitude and the Federation of the Chefs-Restorers of Alsace.
The oenological workshops and thematic tastings commented and livened up by the CIVA (Interprofessional Council of Alsace Wines), not to mention the space of dedications, were a huge success.

The appointment is already taken ​​in March, 2014 for the 15th edition of EGAST and the second edition of COOK SHOW, both organized by Strasbourg Evénements.
