Historically, Armagnac is the oldest type of French Brandy. Stemming from the southwest of France, it is distilled in three regions.
Bas-Armagnac produces prestigious eaux-de-vie, delicate and fruity, of exquisite fineness.
Ténarèze, the land of tawny sands, is the biggest production area of Armagnac, giving very aromatic and usually more full-bodied brandies.
Haut-Armagnac is the largest region. The phylloxera crisis had wreaked havoc but the domains in this region strove for many years to rebuild their vineyard and work every day to produce quality Armagnac.
Armagnac is more than an eau-de-vie; it is part of the culture and local heritage. The producers are ambitious, talented and enthusiast women and men. Generations succeed to perpetuate, respecting tradition, a unique know-how.

Established in 1832, the House Castarède is the oldest House of Armagnac. For 180 years, their commitment and their passion for the Armagnac remained intact. The House Castarède possesses one of the the most important collections of old vintages. Florence Castarède crosses the World to share this family heritage. The Domain is settled in the heart of a 16-hectare vineyard planted with three varietals: Folle Blanche, Colombard and Ugni Blanc in the region of Bas-Armagnac.

Château of Laubade, built in 1870, is the biggest estate in Armagnac with 105 hectares of vineyards. Now, Arnaud and Denis Lesgourgues perpetuate the quest of excellence. All the stages of the elaboration are the fruit of a very great know-how which goes from the practice of integrated farming, to the making of its own oak barrels. With Intemporel N°5, Laubade is the first house in the Bas-Armagnac region to explore the art of blending of very old eaux-de-vie placing great emphasis on the varietal Baco. It has been elected Best Brandy of the World in San Francisco in 2007.

Founded in 1882, the House Samalens located in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region distils the greatest crus of this terroir, thanks to its eight stills of which the oldest dates back its foundation. The Castle of Pellehaut is situated in the heart of the appellation Armagnac: the Ténarèze. Property of the family Béraut, settled in Montreal of the Gers for more than three centuries. Martin and Mathieu Béraut took over the reins proposing innovative and high quality products. As is the Réserve de Gaston, blend of the last Ugni Blanc distilled by their father Gaston Béraut and the first Folle Blanche of the two brothers. The domain Séailles, family domain since 1961, is located in the heart of Gascony in the area of the Ténarèze. Their Armagnacs are characterized by their flavour, very marked with prunes and candied fruits, a powerful and nervous palate peculiar to the terroir of Ténarèze. Jean Labérenne, enthusiast and respectful of the nature, has began the conversion of the family domain into organic farming in 1997, and since 2002 the Armagnacs of the Domain benefit from the label Organic Farming. The domain acquired for a long time a beautiful reputation in the production of fine and vintage Armagnacs.

The Domain Pomès-Pébérère, situated in the region of Ténarèze, is a 45-hectare property run by the Family Faget since 1820. In Lannepax in the heart of Gascony, the House Delord distils its Bas-Armagnacs since 1893. The fourth generation, Jérôme and Sylvain Delord, head the family business established by Prosper, their great-grandfather. The castle of Briat, built in 1540 for King Henri IV, was purchased in 1864 by Raoul de Pichon Longueville, already owner of a Grand Cru in Pauillac. Passed on by the women, Stéphane de Luze, the current owner, is the 5th generation. At Briat the yields are low to protect the nobility and the authenticity of the Armagnacs, and the selection is done as from the wine making. So within a same vintage, only some barrels will be kept, in monovarietal or for blending. The Domain produces eaux-de-vie of the highest quality such as the Pur Baco of 1988.
