France Angers
The Salon des Vins de Loire
It is under the snow that the exhibition opened its doors. This first day, usually key day, was cut off from about 700 visitors. Other days did not catch up this delay. The tricky climatic circumstances and the difficult traffic conditions mainly affected the buyers CHR (Coffee-Hotel-Restaurant) of the large-western regions as well as a small number of foreign buyers from Belgium and England who faithfully attend the Salon. This edition remains nevertheless marked by the quality of the contacts and the high loyalty of traditional buyers of Loire wines.
More structurally, for Christian Groll, director of the Exhibition Centre of Angers, “the Salon, now 27 years old, has reached a cruising speed that must be shaken up. It has to get a facelift by integrating a logic turned towards the valuation and the discovery by putting back the wine, the vintage and the tasting in the heart of the show”. Pierre Aguilas, president of the Salon des Vins de Loire, wishes that “the wine sector acquires the means to unite all efforts so that this annual event remains THE meeting of Loire wines”.
Anyway, the popularity rating of the exhibition is intact.
“For the next edition, the exhibition has to federate all the energies of the Loire wine industry and stay in adequacy with visitors expectations”..

Julien Chazot, owner of a wine bar in Lyon and unconditional visitor asserts: “I like coming to Angers, it is my Loire appointment of the year, the opportunity to meet the wine growers and to follow the qualitative evolution of the appellations. The added value of the event? Its friendliness!”
