Innovation and tradition
Champagne Tribaut-Schloesser is one of the houses where savoir-faire is handed over from generation to generation. But the tradition is here marked with modernity and innovation, which probably plays a role in the success of its bubbles. Although the Tribaut-Schloesser champagnes are nearly a century old, the viticulture practised by both families is even more ancestral.
The Tribaut family
In 1929, at Romery, few kilometers away from Épernay – capital city of Champagne – Roger Tribaut and René Schloesser decided to unite their savoir-faire when they married their children Jean and Suzanne. From their love only the best could arise. On the 50-ha vineyard on the most prestigious hills of the Champagne region exceptional grapes are grown, 30% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir. Ageing in oak tuns, thread wire cap for the cuvée L’Authentique, Champagne Tribaut-Schloesser continues the tradition since 4 generations.
Sébastien Tribaut (Jean Tribaut's grandson) now manages the estate. Top-notch techniques entered the old cellars. But tradition has never been forgotten. Some pickers have been repeating for 35 years, every year, the gestures Jean taught them. The controlled yields and ageing in oak tuns are the basis of Tribaut-Schloesser's trademark. For their wines they wish only two things: the best grapes and the best oak (changed every three years to exude again their inimitable plenitude).
From the soil to the bottle
When the last generation arrived at the estate, the motto that always guided the generations who guaranteed continued existence to Tribaut-Schloesser champagnes was respected: modernity within the tradition. Loyal to the ancient character, taking care to renew the working tool and surround themselves with the most skilled persons to extract the very essence of their vineyard, the owners strive to craft and propose a range of very good wines, respectful of the terroir while offering consistency due to the Tribaut's passion. Indeed, proud of their roots and with a concern for highlighting the terroir, Sébastien Tribaut works in the cellars as much as in the vineyard to craft savoury and generous wines.
A blooming brand
This quality and consistency enabled the Tribaut- Schloesser champagnes to build up their fame far beyond the borders of Champagne. Every year 350,000 bottles are marketed all over the world, starting with Benelux, United Kingdom and Germany. And further markets like North America or Asia also contributed significantly to this surge.
The wines compose a complete range, guaranteeing the mastery of a know-how, among which Cuvée Brut Origine with an excellent quality-price ratio, or Blanc de Chardonnay awarded a gold medal for several years at the World's Best Chardonnays competition. Not to forget Cuvée René, tribute to the founder, a high-end Champagne that won the gold two consecutive years in Brussels. This year the Brut vintage 2007 complemented the range of Tribaut Schloesser, that already consisted of 8 references.
