While Champagne Brimoncourt is renowned for the quality of its wines, its history is no less captivating. The House has made its home in Aÿ, within the walls of a former printing works steeped in heritage. Built in 1883, these 3,000 m² of buildings in “Eiffel-style” architecture once housed the Plantet printing company, founded by Édouard Plantet. A true economic driver for the region, it employed generations of locals and produced labels for prestigious Champagne houses such as Dom Pérignon, Ruinart, and Moët & Chandon.
In 2008, Alexandre Cornot chose to support Édouard Plantet’s son, then facing financial difficulties. He acquired the printing company but kept the buildings, which he had fallen in love with, giving them a new destiny: to host Brimoncourt and breathe fresh life into the House.
Today, the site still bears the marks of its epic past. The former offices are now home to the Brimoncourt team; the workshop, once used for printing labels, now houses the House’s production; nearly 8,000 lithographic stones, remnants of a unique savoir-faire, sit alongside photographs from the printing company’s golden age. Mr. Plantet’s former residence also still stands proudly at the heart of the estate.
This priceless heritage continues to shape Brimoncourt’s identity: a free-spirited, authentic, and dynamic ethos that affirms its human values, with the transition carried out without any job losses. The House thus demonstrates its deep attachment to the history and the people who forged it.
