Cacolac Industry is located near Bordeaux, in Léognan, in the famous Pessac-Léognan appellation. Known by all of us since our childhood for a milky drink, the company has developed since 2011 a very different know-how in the packaging of high quality wines in aluminum cans. This technology has been developed based on the expertise of oenologists. Their 'IFS Grade A' certified factory guarantees premium quality. Their organic certification also allows them to package organic wines.
Cacolac does not claim to revolutionize the historical know-how but tries to link two worlds. They receive the wines stored by tangential filtration in tanks of 125 or 300 hl. Filtration will be carried out during the filling through 3 levels, of 1.2, 0.65 and 0.40 microns in order to guarantee a perfect stability in time. A gaseous sweeping to remove the oxygen just before closing the cans will be the last necessary step to ensure the integrity of the packaging.
In this context, the most important parameters in the wine for this type of filling are the free SO2 which must be less than 20 ppm and the pH which must be higher than 3.2. By this process Cacolac guarantees the stability of the quality of the wine until the final consumer.
Two sizes of cans are currently available in Europe: 200 ml for filling at 187 ml, and 250 ml. They also have the option of importing 187 ml cans from the United States to meet the specifics of this market.
The aluminum cans supplied for wine filling are specific. They include a BPA-free interior varnish and a greater thickness to prevent the risk of damage.
Cacolac takes all the necessary care to guarantee the best quality: the use of filtration pallets, the extraction under neutral atmosphere and the nitrogen inerting allowing to expel the oxygen to guarantee a perfect conservation.
This know-how is set to the benefit of the players in the wine world who wish to propose their wines in a modern and nomadic packaging, respectful of the product and the environment, targeting a new generation of consumers, the Millenials. This modern packaging allows Millenials to learn about the pleasures of wine away from the traditional codes of their parents, at a reasonable price.
