ASI Competition for the Best Sommelier of the World Paris 2023

France proposes Pascaline Lepeltier to represent it

Pascaline Lepeltier and her substitute Benjamin Roffet make up the pair proposed to the technical committee of the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, which will confirm this choice or not in the coming months, alongside the official candidates from the other national associations.

The 15 members of the jury, composed by David Biraud, highlighted the main qualities and skills expected: the depth and precision of theoretical knowledge, mastery of service techniques, speed of execution of tasks illustrating the requirement of a restaurant service, ease of speech, fluency and ease in the English language, ability to engage and represent the profession of sommelier.

Six French candidates were in competition: Gaëtan Bouvier, Best Sommelier of France 2016; Dominique Laporte, One of the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France sommellerie class 2004 and Best Sommelier of France 2004; Pascaline Lepeltier, Meilleurs Ouvriers de France sommellerie class 2018 and Best Sommelier of France 2018; Florent Martin, Best Sommelier of France 2020; Manuel Peyrondet One of the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France sommellerie class 2011 and Best Sommelier of France 2008; Benjamin Roffet, One of the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France sommellerie class 2011 and Best Sommelier of France 2010.
