The French and international sommellerie is losing a great gentleman. Born in Haute-Savoie in 1941, Georges Pertuiset entered the sommelier business in 1955 and then, 2 years later, became a commis sommelier. Without any particular ardor at the start, the world of wine became a passion for him. Now living in the Burgundy region, he decided in the 1960s to create a training and tasting association with friends. A desire to share that can be found in his professional career. Thus, if he worked at Maison Lamoise, in Chagny (71), from 1979 to 1985, it was then towards the training of young sommeliers that he turned by becoming a trainer for the Brevet Professionnel de Sommelier at the CFPPA in Beaune.
His love for wine led him to participate in the Best Sommelier of France competition, which he won in 1980. To this title will be added those of Chevalier du Mérite Agricole, bronze medal for technological education, master sommelier of the UDSF, president of the Association des Sommeliers de Bourgogne et Franche-Comté from 1986 to 1998 (then honorary president) and president of the Union de la Sommellerie Française from 1995 to 2004.
SommelierS International, who had the honor of being accompanied by Mr. Pertuiset during some of his tastings, remembers a smiling and passionate man, who had a penchant for Burgundy wines, faithful to his adopted region. In fact, when asked for his favorite food and wine pairing, he replied: pan-fried scallops with porcini mushrooms with a Meursault Perrières 1992 or 1995. All our condolences go to his family and loved ones.
