Three years after its last tasting in Languedoc-Roussillon, the magazine SommelierS International repeats the experience at the 4* hotel Courtyard by Marriott of Montpellier for a tasting of Southern Wines.
Under a beautiful sunshine our 60 sommeliers, wine merchants and enologists met in a contagious cheerful atmosphere, for the greatest pleasure of the wine growers come to present their wines. For this nice day, 82 domains of Languedoc-Roussillon, the Rhone Valley, Provence, and even Corsica, were spotlighted.
Presided over by Philippe Faure-Brac, Best Sommelier of the World, Michel Hermet, President of the Union de la Sommellerie Française, and Philippe Nusswitz, president of the sommeliers of Languedoc-Roussillon Southern Rhone Valley, the event highlighted wines with fruity, mineral or woody flavours, able to satisfy the most demanding palates.
Eager for advice and discussions, the wine growers could take advantage of the expert opinion of the sommeliers, oenologists and wine merchants who lent their talents for the tasting and comments. The opportunity for each of the producers to explain their relationship with the vine and their wine and thus make understand their approach with the presented cuvées. Because after all we better appreciate a wine when we know its history, don't we?
Besides new cuvées, sommeliers and wine growers could discover the Berthomieu-Ermitage cooperage, with barrels made with stave boards and a Ermitage range that proposes “custom-made” barrels, crafted by order.
The glass stopper Vinolok was also represented. With a premium glass product, 100% neutral taste, this stopper enables a totally tight closure of the bottle, without any influence on the taste and the smell of the wine.
For the cork aficionados, Diam Bouchage promoted their corks that enable to preserve an incomparable sensory purity and guarantee its constancy throughout the life of the wine in the bottle.
All the professionals then met in the restaurant to take advantage of the cocktail party and to appreciate again the 195 wines tasted in the morning. The opportunity to make discover or rediscover the favourite cuvées.
