Michelin 2008and its shower of stars

Revealed at the end of March this year, the roll of honour of Michelin’s latest gastronomic guide makes ‘Petit Nice’ the first restaurant in Marseille to have three stars gleam above its sign.

In Paris, however, ‘Le Grand Vefour’ was moved down to two stars.

The provinces made a clean sweep of all promotions to two stars with a marvellous helping hand awarded to Philippe Etchebest, Chef at ‘L’Hôtellerie de Plaisance’ in Saint-Emilion. Part of the Relais & Châteaux chain, this restaurant belongs to no other than Gérard and Chantal Perse, known for their portfolio of winegrowing estates, which includes Château Monbousquet, Château Pavie Decesse, Château Bellevue Mondotte and Château Pavie.

Amongst restaurants that place wine at the fore and were awarded a first star, we would like to mention two restaurants that opened in 2007. In Paris, the ‘World’s Best Sommelier’ 2004, Enrico Bernardo, and his unique concept, ‘Il Vino’, was awarded its first Michelin star, as was the case too for ‘La Maison du Terroir’, nestled in the heart of Roussillon, in Maury.
Two restaurants to discover…
