The Roederer Group in Bordeaux region

A constellation of terroirs of excellence
from Champagne... to the Bordeaux region.

Louis Roederer is one of the last great Maisons of Champagne that are still independant. Founded in 1776, champagnes had pride of place in the 19th century on the tables of the court of Russia with, as a crowning achievement, the creation of the famous Cristal cuvée at the Tsar Alexander II's request. The concept of the ‘Cuvée Prestige’ was born.

Today in Champagne, the Maison Roederer counts about 200 hectares and combines the best of two worlds: a real vitcultural know-how thanks to their knowledge of the historical vineyard and the art of blending applied for 6 generations. Since the 80s, little by little, the Maison Roederer opted for the diversification of the vineyards... in California (Roederer Estate since 1982 and Scharffenberger in 2004)… in Portugal (Maison Pinto in 1990), in the Rhône Valley (Maison Delas in 1993), in the Champagne region (Maison Deutz, the same year), in the Bordeaux area (Château Haut-Beauséjour in 1992 and Château de Pez in 1995), in Provence (Les Domaines Ott in 2004).

General Manager and member of the family, Frédéric Rouzaud takes the reins of the Maison Roederer in 2006, and carries on with the investments in the Bordeaux region with the purchase of the Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande -classed growth of Pauillac- and the Château Bernadotte in the Haut-Médoc. He takes care of this inheritance, to pass it on to further generations, with the values which he is attached to and which are in the line with a long-term vision.
«The aim of our small wine craftsmen federation is to lead a 'château' policy through the most beautiful european viticultural terroirs. We would like to remain in the exclusive wine sphere including its distribution to become one day -why not- on of the leaders in the production and the marketing of great wines.
We try to have at least one jewel in each appellation, and nice estates all around, with an adequate distribution network we have ever create by ourselves, as for example in Great Britain, in the United States and in Switzerland, under the name of 'Maisons Marques et Domaines'. In these countries, we also managed to complete the sale of our proper range by some friend estates that share our values and to which we feel close to (Ladoucette, Dominus, Faiveley, Pio Cesare…). To master from A to Z the making of our wines, while watching out for their correct retailing, is essential. In the other countries, we chose partners who share our passion for great wines and who bring a real know-how as far as distribution is concerned."
Frédéric Rouzaud details. And he goes on: «What is important for the future of our French wines is to keep their great typicity as long as we have an aesthetic vision of our wines. We have been welcoming sommeliers in our wineries on a personalized way for years: they are our ambassadors, with the cellarmen and of course the journalists. We receive them simply and authentically in small groups for very technical visits, trying to share our vision and our style with them».
Other style, other facet, other masterpiece: the Maison Louis Roederer Champagne supports many artists as a sponsor, like recently Bettina Rheims and Serge Bramly, whose «Rose, c’est Paris» you can see on the website :
