Visual aspect: pellucid and gleaming, with a beautifully vivid dark ruby-red colour. It shows richness and its tears are perceptible.
Nose: good intensity with fragrances of black fruit (blackcurrant). After swirling, it exudes aromas of sweet spices and tobacco.
Palate: pure on the first taste and the second taste gives fruit flavours, as well as richness, a slight acidity, but the wine is well-balanced on supple tannins and has good length. The finish is round.
Match with food: loin of pork; split-pea puree.
Comments: age for two years, since 2002 was not an outstanding vintage. We can perceive Matthieu Cosse’s excellent wine-making skills. Admirable!
