Founded in 1925, Maison Lombard has preserved some two dozen vintage lots from 1973 to 2004, carefully selected and marketed on a very confidential basis.
The Millésime range is divided into two categories:
•
The Brut Nature Grand Cru 2008 cuvée, produced according to the estate's current philosophy, with a Brut Nature dosage and a blend of six Grands Crus;
•
The Collection cuvées 1990, 1992 and 1996, which embody the memory of Champagne and Champagne Lombard, with the expertise of the estate's various cellar managers.
The Collection 1990, 70% Chardonnay 1er and grand cru, 30% Pinot Noir 1er cru, 6g/l dosage, has developed notes of blond tobacco mixed with candied fruit. The Collection 1992, composed of 80% Chardonnay 1er and grand cru, 20% Pinot Noir 1er cru, with a dosage of 9g/l, now offers moderate tension, offset by rich, complex aromas, giving this champagne the character of a grand vin. Finally, the Collection 1996, 70% Chardonnay grand cru, 30% Pinot Noir 1er and grand cru, 9g/l dosage, reveals plenty of fullness thanks to Pinot Noir from Ambonnay and Dizy, an imposing structure, and a lemony zest on the finish.
Also, for its Collection cuvées, the estate is unveiling new boxes presented in two parts, allowing dual use. By removing the metal pins, the black part is removed to reveal the cuvée on a wooden display stand. The wooden display is embossed with a gold hot stamping to reveal any future Collection vintages the winery may decide to market.
