Established in the world of the great Burgundian houses, Bouchard Père & Fils owns 130 hectares, mostly in Premier and Grand Crus. It strives to carry out a work of great precision to reveal all the potential of its terroirs.
With 142 parcels spread over 48 km in length, the Bouchard Père & fils house alone sums up all Burgundy. A synopsis or rather an anthology ... Anthology whites: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne ... Exceptional red wines: Chambertin Clos de Beze, Volnay Cailleret, Le Corton ... Cuvées that cellar master Frédéric Weber vinifies with the aim of preserving the personality of each of the climats he has.
The team of the house led by chairman Gilles de Larouzière and general manager Thomas Seiter ensures continued existence to a long history started in 1731: a cloth merchant from the Dauphiné region, Michel Bouchard, completed his trade with Flanders by a few barrels of Burgundy wine purchased on the way.
A story that takes a very concrete form in the cellars of Château de Beaune. There you can find bottles of Meursault-Charmes 1846, a Chambertin 1865 (one of the bottles sold at auction in 2016 reached the amount of €35,000), or in the same vintage the famous Beaune Premier Cru Vignes de l’Enfant Jésus. One of the emblematic cuvées of the house.
It engraves Beaune and Burgundy into the great history of France. Married to Anne of Austria in 1615, Louis XIII despairs of still having no heir. Thirty years of marriage were not enough ... In the autumn of 1637, the royal couple travelled to Beaune and to the Carmelites of the city. A sister predicted to the couple that on her return to Paris, the queen would be pregnant. The royal cortege took the way back and on September 5, 1638, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Anne of Austria gave birth to the one who would be called the Sun King: Louis XIV. Grateful, the queen donated to the Carmelites of Beaune a statuette of the Child Jesus and a plot of vines of four hectares in the Beaune Grèves area. This plot was acquired later by the Bouchard Père & Fils house, which maintained its name.
The wine that stems from it is not common. As evidenced by the old vintages of the nineteenth century, which are taken out of the cellar of the house in rare occasions. They express themselves with the fullness of a red Burgundy Grand Cru: complexity and aromatic finesse, harmony, silky tannins.
The vineyard is located in the heart of the locality called Grèves, around a small house renovated by Bouchard Père & Fils in the 90s. It is surrounded by walls on three sides: west, east and north. The average age of the stocks is about forty years old. On the surface, on about twenty centimeters, the soil consists of gravels (grèves), without clay, on a subsoil of cracked slabs.
After vatting for two to three weeks and an élevage of 14 to 16 month depending on the vintage (20% new barrels), this Beaune Premier Cru is ready to challenge time.

Bouchard Père & Fils, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru La Cabotte 2014
In the nose, notes of flint, sweet spices, white chocolate, butter biscuits. Palate of great distinction, elegant and refined, unctuous and of great structure while keeping a lacy style. Very persistent, intense and aristocratic finish. An exceptional wine.
Bouchard Père & Fils, Echezeaux Grand Cru (la Combe d’Orveaux) 2015
A beautiful nose that combines fine oakiness and ripe fruitiness. After oxygenation, aromas of sour cherries, crushed strawberries, fine spices and green pepper. Beautiful dense, expressive, tasty and mineral palate, distinguished and refined. Fine tannins, a very persistent finish with intensity and an aristocratic style. A grand wine.
