Nestled in the heart of Burgundy’s prestigious vineyards, Domaine Douhairet-Porcheret has embodied family winemaking excellence for nearly 350 years. At the helm of this historic estate, the passionate and dynamic duo Cataldina and Vincent bring energy and expertise to every stage of the process, from vine to bottle.
Among their treasures, the Miss Armande Vieilles Vignes cuvée stands out. Sourced from old Chardonnay vines averaging 60 years of age, planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare on a discreet 0.4560-hectare plot with western exposure, it reflects the full character of a terroir composed of gravelly limestone overlaid with marl.
The vineyard work remains rooted in traditional methods: mechanical soil maintenance, manual leaf thinning, and green harvesting at veraison if needed. Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. In the cellar, vinification is gentle and fruit-focused: direct pneumatic pressing, overnight cold settling in stainless steel, followed by fermentation and ageing in fine-grained French oak barrels (30% new) for 11 months on lees with bâtonnage, then one month in stainless steel for bottling preparation. Final steps include vegan-friendly fining via tangential filtration and bottling at the estate. The result is a refined, expressive, and vibrant cuvée—true to the spirit of its creators.
Color: a beautiful, limpid, and brilliant hue with golden highlights.
Nose: intense, fresh, and floral, offering aromas of hawthorn and honeysuckle. With aeration, subtle notes of apple and fresh almond emerge. The oak is delicately integrated.
Palate: generous and flavorful, lifted by a lovely saline acidity. The mid-palate is creamy yet balanced, never heavy. The finish is delicious and leaves you wanting more.
Pairing: lightly seared scallops.
Comment: a rich, savory, and precise wine, true to the character of the vintage—bravo!
