A unique territory:
Stretching from the Spanish border to the Rhone delta, Languedoc-Roussillon offers a wide range of highly contrasting landscapes and weather conditions. Its relief made up of terraces facing the Mediterranean Sea combines three ensembles: mountains and high plateaux, intermediary foothills and plateaux and the coastal plain.
The weather:
The Pays d’Oc climate is Mediterranean but is subjected to the influences of the Atlantic to the West and of the continent to the East
In the wind:
4 major winds buffet the area: the Mistral, the Tramontane, the Marine and the Autan.
Diverse soils:
The soils of the Pays d’Oc: a mosaic of soils (clay-chalky, limestone, gneiss, schist, small pieces of gravel on the lower hillsides, etc.)
Pays d’Oc IGP allows the winemaker to produce wines from a range of 56 grape varieties. This millennia-old expertise (2,500 years of history) needs no introduction. Combined with their creativity, the winemakers produce truly unique wines.
The IGP label represents the relationship between the area and the aromatic quality of the grape varieties. Pays d’Oc IGP guarantees the provenance and traceability of the wines.
The IGP and AOP labels (formerly AOC) are the only official European quality labels.
