Spirit Cognac
Prince Hubert de Polignac
When savoir-vivre meets savoir-faire
Heir to an illustrious family of the French aristocracy, Prince Hubert de Polignac started very young a brilliant career as a French foreign trade advisor. Passionate and epicurean connoisseur of Cognac, he was already the perfect ambassador of the spirit at high society dinners worldwide. Driven by a desire for conquest and adventure, the Prince sealed his destiny on the House H. Mounier's expertise. Their union gave birth to the Cognac Prince Hubert de Polignac in 1947.
Ten years later he creates the Club of Friends of Cognac serving an annual prize for the best book on the Cognac in the form of an annuity of several bottles of the spirit until the end of the winner's life! Relentlessly promoting and presenting his Cognac through striking and original events, he also invited by special plane the 24 greatest managers of Parisian cafes and brasseries for witnessing the harvest and grape crushing.
In January 1971, the prince laid the first stone of the new bottling unit of Cognac Prince Hubert de Polignac. Under the guests' eyes, he buried for ever in the heart of bricks, a mysterious handwritten message. Even today, the content of this letter remains secret.
Benefitting from the crop of over 250 wine estates, and inheritor of a past preciously kept within more than 25,000 vats, the style of the Prince's Cognacs reflects an incomparable terroir and a daring creativity. The House still elaborates its cuvees in respect of this legacy and in the on-going effort to ensure their nobility, inventiveness, influence and modernity.
In a contemporary world where luxury has never seemed so creative, this great Cognac House is launching a new exceptional carafe: Cognac Extra. This rare eau-de-vie is offered in a gracefully rounded flask that treasures this
Grande Champagne. It nestles in a gold and black prestige box adorned with the company's crest.
In the mouth the Prince Hubert de Polignac Extra reveals exceptional smoothness and aromatic richness. Long years of ageing have endowed this Cognac with mellowness, roundness, and the famous features of the Charente rancio. Its hue is of golden and intense colour with amber glints. The palate offers hints of vanilla, cinnamon and almonds, sustained by candied fruit and spice aromas.
