Since 1765, Saint James has taken the utmost care in selecting the best sugar canes in order to produce rums with incomparable flavours.
Saint James rums find their origins in Martinique. The brand possesses its own lands which allows it to meet a big part of its needs in cane, as well as a distillery sheltering the most important stock of old rums. The appellation AOC Martinique proves a superior requirement highlighting its link with the terroir as well as its craft know-how. The rhum agricole is made by fermentation and distillation of the pure juice of the sugar cane called “vesou”. It distinguishes itself from some industrial or traditional rum produced from the molasses, the residues of the sugar refinery. In 2015, the Saint-James Plantations are celebrating a unique anniversary in some definitely different ways. In Martinique, on the Sainte-Marie site in Martinique entirely decorated with the symbols of the 250th anniversary, 12 renowned artists will take turns each month with unique exhibitions. From July 6 to 12, it is all Martinique that will bear the colours of the 250th anniversary of Saint James with, on the programme, rich and varied activities inviting to discover Saint James rums' secrets: private visits of the distillery, a cocktail competition and tastings will punctuate this week of celebration.
The French continent and the rest of the world will also benefit from an exceptional action plan. The festivities will begin with an anniversary party to be held in the heart of Paris. Limited editions and outstanding point-of-sale promotional activities will set the Saint James Plantations' 250th anniversary in honour. A massive advertising campaign will unveil a new advertisement on many medias.
A fine and complex blend in which every vintage brings its original touch to the final composition. The vintages previous to 1952 offer warm notes of old brandies brandies and rancio whereas the more recent vintages provide moreish and fruity notes. The tasting will take you for a journey from woody notes of fern and cigar box towards fruity aromas, of prunes and fruits in brandy, supported by warm notes of roasting.
