Visual aspect: a vivid garnet-red hue with purplish tinges.
Nose: fragrances of fruit in compote, spices (black pepper), cocoa and then aromas of maturation take over with amazing elegance. After swirling, it exudes hints of anthracite and flint. Skill in proportioning the maturation here is fabulous.
Palate: vertical and fresh. It is rich and precise; the finish gives a mineral hint, despite clearly perceptible maturation flavours. The barrel has been used to perfection in maturing this wine.
Match with food: boletus mushrooms preserved in goose fat; aubergines bohémiennes; stewed wood pigeon.
Comments: creamy, exact, exuberant, but distinguished. Fine art … what a tribute to Malbec!
