Visual aspect: an averagely intense garnet-red hue with carmine tints.
Nose: not very expressive yet, giving aromas of black cherry and a balsamic hint, after swirling a touch of liquorice and some development on dried leaves and candied rhubarb.
Palate: full-bodied on the first taste, it stretches out to finish on tannin which seems harsh compared to the initial texture and suppleness. The finish is austere, showing this wine lacks delicacy at present.
Match with food: oxtail Shepherd’s pie.
Comments: this wine is developing now, so there seems to be an inconsistency between the smoothness of the texture and the firmness of the tannin on the finish. It should be decanted before serving.
