Nestled in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Moillard-Grivot is a true institution in Nuits-Saint-Georges and an authentic signature of Burgundy wines, with a history dating back to the 19th century. Founded in 1850, Moillard-Grivot was born from the marriage of Symphorien Moillard and Marguerite Grivot, a vineyard owner.
Since then, they dedicated their lives to the development and promotion of Moillard-Grivot wines, applying their expertise in winemaking and aging with the same passion that sparked the beginnings of their story. Two years later, the development of the house accelerated following a meeting between Symphorien Moillard and a Belgian notary, who, fascinated by these wines, wished to expand the distribution network in his country. Symphorien and Marguerite then began exporting Moillard-Grivot to Belgium, marking a decisive turning point in the commercial growth of the house, which has continued to increase over the years.
Moillard-Grivot offers a fine selection of rich and complex wines, ranging from regional appellations such as Bourgogne Chardonnay and Bourgogne Pinot Noir, to the most renowned Grand Cru wines such as Corton-Charlemagne, Echezeaux, and Clos de Vougeot.
Primarily a story of passion, the production of the estate’s wines and Crémants is done in respect of Burgundian traditions to highlight craftsmanship and the essence of the terroirs.
“We place great importance on the aging of our precious nectars. Twice a year, we visit our coopers to discuss and choose the best barrels, according to the vineyards, terroirs, and the personality of the wines. The frequency of batonnages also plays an important role during aging. The barrels come from Burgundy cooperages with whom we work closely, with blind tastings, toasting tests... It is essential for us to work with local partners who know the vineyard perfectly and can respond to customized requests”, says Baptiste Corrot, oenologist of Moillard-Grivot. He adds, “Our aim is to preserve the identity of the terroirs and the expression of the fruit, while asserting the authentic character of our wines with subtly woody notes. The use of new oak for part of the aging process allows the wines to gain complexity, length, and to develop a bouquet of subtle aromas of noble wood, spices, vanilla, and dried fruits”.
Specializing in Crémants de Bourgogne, Moillard-Grivot brings a breath of fresh air by introducing the luxury of fine bubbles into everyday life. Each moment is an opportunity for enjoyment, from an impromptu brunch to cooking workshops, and they are also essential for festive occasions, easily gracing fine tables. The Crémants de Bourgogne from Moillard-Grivot are vinified with the standards of a great wine, in the heart of the famous wine village of Meursault, on the Côte de Beaune.
