Founded in 1767 by Louis Coutanseaux, a passionate cooper who supplied the greatest Cognac producers, the Maison found new life a few years later under the direction of his eldest son, Joachim, who steered the business toward Cognac production.
Today, Coutanseaux Aîné is in the hands of the Frerejean Taittinger family, heirs to this family saga. With a philosophy rooted in respecting time and excellence, they are dedicated to reviving this sleeping beauty, which, in 2014, saw one of its bottles break all sales records for Cognac, restoring it to its former glory.
Driven by its excellence, the Maison was long the official supplier to the Swedish Royal Court. Now fueled by the desire to rekindle this heritage, their elixirs are sourced exclusively from the Grande Champagne region, classified as Premier Cru de Cognac. These cognacs are the result of meticulous craftsmanship, enhanced by century-old reserves of eaux-de-vie aged in oak barrels. Distillation on lees reveals exceptional aromatic and organoleptic richness, giving the cognacs a bold identity with surprising and harmonious notes. True to its tradition of long ageing, the Maison offers only XO, XXO, Hors d’âge, and other rare bespoke cuvées.
The bottles themselves are distinguished by contemporary and minimalist shapes, departing from traditional bottles of the appellation. The XO and XXO cuvées embody this harmony between centuries-old heritage and modernity. These delicate eaux-de-vie are also available in the elegant 5-liter La Belle Jeanne decanter. This emblematic and signature silhouette of Coutanseaux Aîné is intended for exclusive distribution in prestigious establishments. Its customization with gold engraving and service by siphon contributes to offering an exclusive and unforgettable tasting experience.
